RESIDENTS at a Uttoxeter care home have been transported back in time while enjoying afternoon tea and a 1940s-style classical singer.

Eversley Rest Home, in Bramshall Road, was visited by special guests from the Vintage Tea Emporium to offer the residents some afternoon tea including strawberries and cream, muffins and scones to tie in with Wimbledon.

While they enjoyed the tasty delicacies, they were also treated to the musical jazz sounds of popular Uttoxeter singer Maisey Hepburn to keep them entertained.

Margaret Tortoiseshell, senior carer and activities co-ordinator, said it was a very popular day with all of the residents who attended.

She told the Post and Times: "We decided to do an afternoon tea with it being Wimbledon and it fell in nice for them.

"They absolutely loved it really and it gives them a little boost as they can sing along to the songs and reminisce about their youth.

"It is the first time we have done this and the Vintage Tea Emporium did it as a free taster session which was really nice of them."
