A UTTOXETER school has been visited by a Diocesan inspector to observe its self-evaluation of teaching and learning.

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School underwent an Archdiocese of Birmingham School inspection with a focus on the effectiveness and use of the school's self-evaluation of religious education and Catholic life.

The inspector observed RE lessons, completed a work scrutiny and held a discussion with pupils to evaluate the impact of teaching on learning.

She held meetings with the chairman of the board of directors, staff and lay chaplain as well as observing assembly and a prayer service and undertook a learning walk.

The school was judged to be outstanding.
