UTTOXETER swimmer Adam Peaty won gold  in last night's men's 100m breaststroke final at the Commonwealth Games.

The 19-year-old City of Derby star set a new British and Commonwealth Games  record as he won in 58.94 at Glasgow's Tollcross Pool.

Peaty finished ahead of South Africa's Olympic champion Cameron van der Burgh  who took silver, while Scotland's Ross Murdoch took bronze.
