ACTION is being taken to bridge the skills gap for business in Staffordshire as the economy continues to grow and more opportunities are created.
Ben Adams, county leader for learning and skills, said that Staffordshire had one of the fastest-growing local economies, with a burgeoning number of businesses creating skilled high-quality jobs.
The claimant figure now stands at 1.4 per cent; below both regional – three per cent – and national averages.
The county council, Local Enterprise Partnership and education providers are acting now to increase skills and make long-term plans for the future.
Councillor Adams added that it was now vital that people accessed the most up to date and impartial information and guidance on training and careers. Careers and learning advice in Staffordshire can be found at www.youthbox.info
