VINTAGE cars, a dog show and a little music were all part of the fun as people turned out in force to enjoy a village show.

Denstone Show, organised by Denstone Parish Council, was hailed as highly successful.

The event was officially opened by Uttoxeter MP Andrew Griffiths, who also presented postmistress Bel Compton with a long-service gift after villagers undertook a collection.

Attractions throughout the day included family Olympics, a vintage car show, a street market, dog agility demonstrations by Hooligan Hounds, willow weaving demonstrations, Uttoxeter Youth Brass Band, various culinary competitions, a barbecue and a raffle as well as cream teas in Haywood Hall.

Emily Whitehead, clerk to Denstone Parish Council, told the Advertiser: "The show went very well and the weather was very kind to us on the day.

"We had more people enter the competitions than ever before and it was very busy all day, with lots going on.

"I would go as far as to say it was highly successful.

"It is a proper community event, with people coming from afar to join us and lots of different members of the community getting involved.

"Denstone WI provided the refreshments in the village hall and did a lovely job, as they do every year."

The main sponsor was Alton Towers, with many other businesses and groups from the village also getting involved and backing the event.

Any leftover cash raised on the day will go back into facilities and events in the village.
