A FAMILY fun day to raise cash to send a little girl battling cancer on a dream trip to Disneyland has been crowned a huge success.

Imogen's Party, a family fun day and auction, saw families flock to Oldfields Sports and Social Club before the event was even set up to show their support for Imogen Evans, who is battling neuroblastoma, a child-specific form of cancer.

The event raised a grand total of £5,166 to send Imogen and her family to the Paris theme park.

The highlight of the day was an appearance by Queen Elsa from Disney favourite Frozen who met the children and read them a story. Kimberley Rose, who holds children's theatre workshops in the town, dressed up as the popular character.

Organiser Faye Mawer said: "The children were sitting down waiting in their frozen outfits to match Queen Elsa before she even arrived, they were that excited to see her.

"The kindness of the people of Uttoxeter was amazing and overwhelming. Imogen spent the day there enjoying the sunshine with her family and friends, especially her best friend Bella.

"I cannot thank all those that helped set up on the day and run stalls enough. It would have been impossible without their help and support."

Attractions on the day included police officers with a van and uniforms for the children to try on, a fire engine, three race cars, Beat the Goalkeeper with Ethan Mawer, face painting, guess the number of sweets in the jar, a teddy tombola, hook-a-duck and a bouncy castle.

The auction was run by Nick Hanson who regularly holds auctions for Bagshaws Property and land agents in Uttoxeter.

Mrs Mawer added: "He was a real asset to the day. We would never have got as much as we did if it wasn't for Nick so I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for coming along to help support us."
