AN INDEPENDENT Uttoxeter coffee shop has changed hands, after six years trading in the town centre.

David, Sue and Sam Hunter have sold Indulgence Coffee Lounge to new owner Sheila Tole, who is to take over the premises with immediate effect.

Ms Tole will retain the current format of the business including the popular themed evenings and will also be keeping all current staff on.

Mr Hunter said: "The sale was completed today.

"It has been difficult to let people know earlier as the contracts were to have been signed two weeks ago with completion planned for today.

"As it happened, with legal wrangling we ended up signing and completing today.

"So for the fact that we have not been able to let you know earlier, I apologize.

"You may or may not have been aware that Sue and I have recently welcomed a new grandchild to our family and have had other demanding family issues.

"In order to spend more time with our family we have decided that now is the right time for change.

"For this reason we started to explore the possibility of transferring the business to somebody who would share our passion for Indulgence Coffee Lounge and Uttoxeter.

"Sheila fell in love with Uttoxeter when she moved from Redruth and was looking for a business in the town when she learned that we were exploring our options.

"Sheila has become very passionate about Indulgence and plans to continue the business in its current format.

"What is particularly pleasing for us is that she will be keeping all the staff you have grown to know and who have been so fantastically supportive for us.

"Additionally Sheila will continue the themed evenings; the next one being a Greek Night, on Friday, July 18.

"As a family Sue, Sam and I are really pleased that we brought Indulgence to Uttoxeter and have thoroughly enjoyed the six years we have spent getting to know you and all our other guests. "We would like to thank you for all the support and encouragement you have given us.

"Since our arrival in Uttoxeter, we have seen the town flourish and develop. The new ASDA with full occupancy at the Carter Square development, the revelation of the redevelopment of the Maltings and now, the announcement that Waitrose will be arriving at the end of 2015. These developments have raised the profile of the town and will encourage further retailers to come. We have always felt that Uttoxeter is a great town and has a very promising future which is now coming to fruition.

"It only remains for me to say a big thank you once again for all your support and friendship over the years.

"No doubt we shall see you in and around Uttoxeter and as always, you will probably hear Sue’s laugh."
