Iron men asked to step up for gruelling race

FITNESS fans can now sign up to tackle a new challenge.

IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire will see competitors take to the water for a 1.2-mile swim in Chasewater Reservoir before cycling 56 miles through Staffordshire countryside, concluding with a gruelling 13.1-mile run.

The event will start and finish at Shugborough Hall Estate.

The challenging route for the inaugural event on June 15, 2015, takes place in Kings Bromley, Draycott-in-the-Clay, Blithfield Reservoir, Rugeley and the woods of Cannock Chase.

It will be one of the fastest, flattest courses on the IRONMAN European Tour, with an elevation of 2,058ft.
