STAFFORDSHIRE Fire and Rescue Services was called to an accident on the A50 last Saturday afternoon, August 9.
All westbound traffic was stopped while emergency services dealt with the incident, which occurred opposite the JCB World Parts Centre at around 2pm when a Land Rover caught fire in a layby.
Two fire engines from Longton attended the scene and the blaze was extinguished by firefighters using breathing apparatus.
The vehicle's passengers were able to escape from their vehicle without injury.
The road reopened at around 4.40pm.
