WITH the benefit of hindsight, Uttoxeter captain Michael Skelham conceded his side's winning draw away to Winshill on Saturday was a good result, despite being knocked off top spot in Derbyshire County League Division Five South.

The Town side made 233 from their allotted overs, but their Mill Hill Lane hosts proved as stubborn as expected, holding out in reply to claim a share of the spoils.

The result sees Yoxall leapfrog Uttoxeter into pole position, and Skelham said: "I wasn't totally satisfied at the end of play with the performance.

"Clearly more runs on the board would have created more pressure and enabled us to attack more.

"But once I had had time to ponder over the result, I can see that it was a terrific effort to go so close on such a flat pitch.

"Now we need to go one better away to Rolleston this week.

"The top of the table is seriously hotting up now with Rolleston only 23 points behind us with a game in hand in third place."
