IT'S a fact, our leafy suburb always looks its best under the summer sun!

With forecasts serving up blue skies and the temperatures to match why not dig out those wayfarers, take a leisurely stroll through the town and join us on Saturday for The Summer of Vintage.

On August 2, National Vintage Award winners The Vintage Suitcase return to the Uttoxeter showground to present a variety of the UK's leading nostalgic brands, retailers and stylists. Catering for culinary tastes, the lanes and parkways of the racecourse venue are set to host a range of streetside food vendors.

For the gas monkeys and motor heads amongst us there's even a classic car 'meet'. The house PA will be alive with tastefully vintage audio courtesy of the Suitcase's own 'resident' vinyl DJ and the day will round off with some of the UK's leading nostalgic talents set to take to the stage and carry us through the decades, afternoon through evening.

Live acts on the main stage include the 'Swinging Singing Showgirl' Bexi Owen, 1940s Vintage Vocalist Jayne Darling, 60s tribute The Modern Affair and 1950s Rockabillies Joe and The Volcanoes.

There will be 70 trade stands present on the day, each retailing unique and often bespoke product lines. Amongst these are Uttoxeter's own Lamplight Design who offer nostalgia-inspired lifestyle furnishings, London's Telegramme Studio who produce and sell screen printed gig posters, prints and products and the hugely successful ASOS marketplace seller Bottle Green Vintage (www.facebook.com/BottleGreenVintage) who offer hand-picked vintage clothing.

Further highlights include H.E.R Vintage who will be showcasing handpicked garments and accessories and Two Tone Retro offering selected vintage and retro furnishings. For the girls there is Kitty Lou Vintage (www.facebook.com/kittyLouVintage) retail handmade custom garments each designed using original vintage patterns and authentic fabrics and Derby-based salon Pin Up Curl (www.facebook.com/pinupcurl) will be on site offering Femme Fatale and Vintage Vixen hair makeovers.

Along similar lines, Kathryn Lily Carter offers her signature 'dresses in bags' as well as a selection of vintage fabrics and fittings while Tea With Tom (www.teawithtom.co.uk) will provide an atmosphere of glamour and decadence all served up with loose leaf tea and clotted cream scones.

The festival is set to embrace Uttoxeter Racecourse on Saturday, August 2. Entry on the day is £5 per adult or £3 if you book online at www.ents24.com or www.seetickets.com (search 'Summer of Vintage). When accompanied by an adult entry is free for children under 14.
