UTTOXETER Rotary Club has appointed a new president as its operational year comes to an end.

The club's year runs from July to June and new president Dave Brown has taken office.

At the recent Uttoxeter Rotary handover event, outgoing president Cliff Cotterill welcomed Mr Brown.

Mr Brown said: "I hope that we will have as successful a year as that just completed.

"It saw the club raise more than £13,000 and many local charities including Kreizevac, Voyage Day Care, Imogen Evans Appeal, Gateway Club and Careline.

" Rotary does also support charities further afield, in particular End Polio Now and our own charity aiming to eradicate polio, a target very close to being achieved.

"Already this Rotary year we have raised a record amount through our five-a-side junior football and at Christmas we will again have Santa's sleigh touring the town.

"In advance I would like to thank the support given to us by local people and businesses.

"Your donations will go to support the many worthy causes in the town."
