Fawkes plot brought to life

A MARCHINGTON school have performed their own version of the Gunpowder Plot as part of a drama workshop.

Pupils from Year One to Year Six, at Smallwood Manor Preparatory School, recreated the story of Guy Fawkes for parents after a week of workshops.

Speech and Drama teacher at the school Hettie Beethan told the Advertiser about the bonfire night-inspired activities and the plans for Christmas performances coming soon.

She said: “It went very well. I put together a little script with the basic plot but left gaps in the story so the children could imagine they were Guy Fawkes and his men or those who found him.

“It was great timing really because the children were buzzing about Bonfire Night and some had been to a bonfire the weekend before. It was interesting that they did not know much about the story so within the fun they were learning as well.

“We are doing a Christmas show on November 30 called Stables and Superheroes and there are over 30 pupils taking part in that from infants to juniors.”
