FOLLOWING the success of recent First World War-themed events, Uttoxeter's museum is to help families research their history.
Genealogy enthusiasts will enjoy a visit to Redfern's Cottage on August 30, when museum staff will have trained archive volunteers on hand to help those mapping their family history.
Popularity of recent events including Meet the Researchers and Town Walks has led volunteers of Redfern's Cottage to include an 'access to the archive' element to their upcoming event 'War is Announced' Experience.
As the month of commemoration of the start of the First World War on August 4, 1914, comes to an end Redfern's Cottage welcomes visitors to its 'War is Announced' event tomorrow, from 11am until 4pm.
From a Bamford's foreman helping sign up recruits from the Leighton Ironworks to the suffragette who put her politics aside to help the war effort, the attractions at Redfern's will aim to take visitors back in time to 1914. There will also be uniformed officers drilling some Army discipline into those brave enough to don costumes and 'sign up'.
