ROCESTER caretaker boss Ant Jones is looking for some FA Cup cheer tomorrow, writes TOM SLOAN.

The Romans, in the midst of an injury crisis, host Stafford Town in the competition's extra preliminary round, kick-off 3pm.

They got their first win of the season at home to Tipton Town last weekend, winning 2-1 to lift the mood following a poor opening week which cost manager Dave Shaw the job.

But in midweek the Romans went down 5-0 at Stourport Swifts.

"We had a good response last week," said Jones. "We had a reasonable squad out against Tipton but unfortunately on Tuesday there was a 150-mile round trip and a lot of unavailable players.

"Stourport are very strong at home and it was a massive ask just to get there on a Tuesday."

The Romans face Stafford, from a level below, in their first break from the rigours of the new Midland Football League season.

They will be missing star man Dan Brown (hamstring), Tom Brown (back), Steve Brannan (knock) and Richard Foster.

There are also major doubts over Brent Upton (illness), and Aaron Dillon (knock), while Carl Allen and Ryan Grocott are still on holiday.

Liam Shaw should return in time for tomorrow's game.
