TWENTY-FOUR apartments for the elderly look set to be built in the centre of Uttoxeter.

The sheltered accommodation flats are planned for Church Street, adjacent to listed building Eastfield.

The development will comprise three storeys in one part and four storeys in the second part, forming 24 sheltered apartments designed specifically for older people.

In addition to the flats, there will be one apartment for warden accommodation to provide round-the-clock support for the elderly tenants.

The design includes access for vehicles with five parking spaces and two disabled parking spaces.

The site is currently vacant and was formerly used as a builders' yard.

Anyone wishing to comment on the application should go to eaststaffsbc.gov.uk and search for P/2014/00979.
