Sudbury and Doveridge scheme could help reduce traffic woes

PLANS for a permit scheme to reduce disruption in Sudbury and Doveridge caused by roadworks have been agreed.

Derbyshire County Council's cabinet approved plans to submit the draft proposal to the Government this week.

It would mean any utility company will have to apply for a permit from the council to carry out work on the busiest roads, allowing it to manage when and where roadworks would take place.

It also gives the council power to fine companies which fail to apply or do not complete work in the time.
