Teen pregnancy found to be at a record low

SCHOOLS in Staffordshire are offering on-site help and advice to pupils to help reduce the number of teenage pregnancies in the county.

Figures published today show the rate of under-18s who become pregnant each year has fallen by 30 per cent since 1998 - and is now at the lowest rate since records began.

Mark Sutton, Staffordshire County Council's cabinet support member for public health, said: "It is good to see that teenage pregnancies have fallen to the lowest levels since records began, but we recognise more still needs to be done to promote better health and wellbeing among our teenagers in parts of the county.

"We want to make sure under-18s are getting the support they need."
