A UTTOXETER park is among the best in the UK it has been officially announced.

East Staffordshire Borough Council has revealed that Bramshall Park has been awarded a Green Flag.

The national award, handed out by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country. A Green Flag is a sign the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

Judges visit the venues and look at a list of qualities including cleanliness, safety, community involvement, management and conservation.

Dennis Fletcher, the council's deputy leader for built environment, said: "We are proud to have secured this prestigious award for another year. The council has worked hard to develop and maintain our open spaces and this has been recognised by independent judges.

"A special mention should also go to the volunteers who put in many hours of unpaid work to keep our local open spaces looking beautiful."
