A UTTOXETER slimming coach has crowned her top slimmer who used to suffer with a health condition before embarking on her weight loss journey.
Lorraine Barker, of Byrd's Lane suffered from severe acid reflux before losing more than three stones with the support of Slimming World members, but now no longer needs any medication.
The 49-year-old, who works at Tesco in Town Meadows Way, said: "I am thrilled to be Woman of the Year.
"I still have a way to go but with Dolly's brilliant group and support I'm sure I will get there."
Runners up Rita Walker and Luan Inskip lost four and two stones respectively.
Mrs Walker started slimming last July ready to lose weight for her daughter's wedding.
She said: "I would never have done it at home.
"I needed the support and help from Slimming World.
"I decided to join the Tuesday 7.30 pm group in Uttoxeter along with my daughter Kathleen.
"Slimming World teaches you to lose weight in a different way and how to keep it off. The food optimising plan is so good and easy to follow it's not a diet it's a healthy eating plan and one that works.
"I am amazed at how much food we are allowed. We have lots of books and good recipes to follow, it's just another way of life for me."
Rita's blood pressure tablets have now been halved and her cholesterol in her blood has dramatically reduced.
She no longer takes statins and also all the terrible pain she used to have in her hip has gone.
She said: "Joining Slimming World was the best thing I have ever done.
"I have something to look forward to every Tuesday and love the session where we have lots of fun, learning and losing weight.
"I feel a new woman with lots of energy."
Luan Inskip, 27, of Tean, was fed up with being overweight and wanted to be fitter. She lost two stones very quickly and wanted to learn how to eat more healthily, and says she now has a lot more energy.
