WOOTTON cricket club were presented with a cheque for £1,000 by East Staffordshire Sports Council on Friday evening, prior to their latest sell out comedy night.
The money will be put towards a much-needed new sightscreen to enhance their picturesque ground at Shawcroft Farm.
The cheque was presented to club chairman John Plant and founder Ed Barker by councillor Colin Whittaker.
Whittaker said: "As well as helping to sustain local sport, Wootton promote social interaction through community involvement and maintain our rich rural heritage.
"The founders, members and locals should be very proud of what they have created here since 1991."
