FIREFIGHTERS in Uttoxeter will be part of another round of strikes after union chiefs blasted the Government for failing to meet their demands.
The strikes will take place from noon to 2pm and 11pm to midnight every day from August 9 to August 16.
The Fire Brigades' Union's (FBU) main problems with government plans are the fact firefighters can be dismissed if they do not meet strict fitness regulations until they are 60-year-old.
Large reductions in firefighters' pensions would be implemented if they took early retirement.
Matt Wrack, FBU general secretary, said: "It is absolutely ludicrous that a government can impose a scheme which means that firefighters will have to ride engines and rescue people from fires up to age 60.
"This is unsafe and unrealistic for both firefighters and the public.
"We know it, and the public know it, but the government will not listen to the evidence based case we have made to them".
The FBU wants 'more flexible rules' relating to early retirement.
